Tania, Giancarla and Andrea beamed to the surface to see the planet that once held one of the first bases loyal to Legate Ghemor and the first coup against the Detapa Council. The planet was in horrid disarray. The Dominion had wanted to make a statement 9 years ago when they withdrew from Cardassia. Make a statement, they did. The devastation was overwhelming.

Rondak III was barely surviving. The once proud center of a main Cardassian training facility had people living in burned out buildings and had people living in horrid poverty. Giancarla set to work immediately on giving care.

Carson Warren went to work on repairing the water supply and setting up the bath houses. These people had been 9 years without such things. Carson always had a soft spot for the Bajorans and the pain they had suffered at the hands of the Cardassian occupation and often thought of the Dominion withdrawal as poetic justice; maintaining the balance of the prophets, but seeing these children was a grim reminder that they never occupied Bajor. They never did anything but stay on Rondak III and survive the worst slash and burn withdrawal in history.

Tania contacted the Tanmesad, "We will need marines and supplies. We need to get at least the capital cleaned up."

Evangeline and the Vultures arrived quickly and with quick assembly industrial replicators. Along with Warren, Todd and her staff quickly set to work on creating a MASH unit for Dr. Viceroy. The crew was working feverishly and for long hours.

Charlene and S'Ari split the Flight Control shifts so Tchilack could fly shuttle to and from the planet for the more serious medical cases and to bring supplies to the surface. There were six days of this hard work and chaos.

Vash finally needed to see it for himself. Reluctantly, he left Gul Varno in charge of his ship and headed for the surface.

He was amazed by the devastation. The Tanmesad had seen many worlds but had not yet been to Rondak III since the withdrawal.

A small child came up to the Cardassian, "Thank you."

The little girl held up a sucker given to her by Commander Branson. Vash rubbed her hair, "You're welcome sweetie."

"My father always said you would come. He always said we need to put our faith in Minister Garak and his plan to bring peace to Cardassia. I see that now. I should have believed my father. Thank you, Mr. Garak.", the child teared up as she spoke.

Vash was no Elim Garak; that much is for certain. He was a humble captain, busted down as Legate of the Fleet. He even lost his command because of his mental state. However, Vash knew that the myth of Minister Elim Garak was as important as the real Garak. He looked down and smiled, "You are welcome, sweetie. You are welcome."

The crew left the planet in better shape and left two industrial replicators for the men and women to work with. Rondak III was on the road to recovery.

Vash sat in his ready room and smiled as "unconfirmed reports of sightings of Elim Garak on Rondak III" circulated throughout subspace.

"And the legend grows.", Vash whispered, "And the legend grows."
