Stories of the Mirror Universe have been documented by the inhabitants of Deep Space Nine and USS Voyager. The understanding that a parallel universe exists dates back to a shuttle crash on the USS Enterprise and documented by Captain James T. Kirk and Commander Spock over a century ago.

Recent discoveries within the Phoenix Federation have led to more research into the existence of the mirror universe including incidents reported on New Netherlands Station and the CSS Red Star. These discoveries have been made available to the USS / CGV Tanmesad and because of the difficult temporal properties of the Typhon Expanse in the Beta Quadrant or in the Azure Nebula within Romulan Space; the gateway to Station Destiny, the Tanmesad crew is especially cognizant of the potential for transfer between universes.

Commander Tania Branson was on the bridge when the Tanmesad dropped out of warp preparing to enter the Iconian Gateway within the Azure Nebula on route back to Station Destiny. Tania and Commander T’Zohl carefully adjusted the ships trajectory but passage through the gateway did not go exactly as planned. The Tanmesad did not open at the massive Dyson Sphere but instead opened within the Alpha Quadrant.

Commander T’Zohl confirmed the location. Tania then looked in awe as the Sovereign Class Vessel appeared on the viewer. The markings were clear. The ISS Logo and the Terran Empire markings were clear. Tania recalled the recent briefing about the transfer.

Tania looked at T’Zohl, “Engage the Terran Empire Beacon.”

“Ma’am.”, T’Zohl responded.

Tania smiled, “We can mimic those we have observed in other transfers. Search the archives if you are unable to emit the necessary frequency.”

The Vulcan looked at the Borg Disconnect, “I can do it, Tania. I just wanted to make certain that this was the approach.”

“We are not prepared to engage the Sovereign.”, Commander Branson responded.

“Agreed.”, the Vulcan responded.

“This is Admiral John Warren of the USS Quasar Quest, Regional Flag Ship of the Terran Task Force Sword Quest. Please identify yourself, Cardassian.”, The mirror universe Warren ordered.

“Dammit.”, Tania responded.

“I was afraid of this.”, Tania continued.

“Get Gul Enranet up here right now and any available Cardassian personnel. All non-Cardassian Guard bridge personnel are dismissed. The Terran Empire would not understand the joint project.”, Tania ordered taking a much more serious tone.

Vash entered the bridge with several enlisted Cardassian staff. Tania briefed him as quickly as possible.

Admiral Warren repeated his order.

Gul Vash Enranet stood in front of the viewer, “This is Gul Enranet, Commanding Officer of the Cardassian Guard Vessel, the Tanmesad offering our services to the Sword Quest Task Force.”

“Exceptional. We are pleased to have the support of the Cardassian Guard. Please fall into the formation as we continue to march towards our target. Further information will be provided when you are boarded by the Task Force Advisory Council.”, Admiral Warren informed the Cardassian.

Vash and his enlisted staff were clunky and not nearly as smooth as Dalin T’Zohl or Lt. Commander Tchilack but the ship entered the formation. Tania and the regular staff returned to the bridge.

Vash and Tania looked at one another. Vash finally broke the silence.

“Ok, how do we get back.”, Vash asked.

“My best guess would be to reenter the Iconian Gateway at Amleth Prime or within the Azure Nebula in the hopes of passing back.”, Tania suggested.

“Excellent. Now how do we break formation and make a run for it.”, Vash asked.

“We can simulate a distress call from Cardassia.”, T’Zohl informed the pair.

“It is absolutely grand to have you back.”, Vash smiled.

“Do that.”, the Cardassian ordered.

Vash walked into his ready room and contacted Admiral Warren. He informed him of the need to return to Cardassia. Admiral Warren agreed on condition that the Tanmesad return to the Task Force. Vash quickly agreed.

The Tanmesad made a maximum warp b-line for the gateway at Amleth Prime. Vash turned to Tania, “Repeat the steps taken at Romulan R-98, hopefully we can appear at Station Destiny.”

The crew had been on the bridge for nearly 20 hours when Dalin T’Zohl took them into the gateway.

The Dyson Sphere is huge. It is unmistakable. The sight was far greater this time. This is a very special trip. The Tanmesad crew was very, very happy to see Destiny.

Hopefully, it is the last time they will see the ISS logo. FOREVER.
